Yesterday the Postal Service decreased shipping rates on several products and services. First-Class packages weighing between 1-13 ounces will see a 4.3% average reduction in price, as will services like Media Mail, Insurance, and Signature Confirmation. These new rates are available when you purchase postage at a USPS retail location.
There’s also good news for customers who use eBay labels: rate decreases will also be applied to Media Mail, Insurance, and Signature Confirmation. Additionally, eBay label users will also enjoy a 3.5% reduction on First-Class items weighing between 1-3 ounces.
HOW THIS IMPACTS EBAY SELLERS
While lower USPS shipping rates are certainly great news, there are some things you should keep in mind. For instance you might consider taking a look at your listings, and making adjustments to what you’re currently charging for shipping.
Here are a few more things to keep in mind:
- Your competitors may be using the new rates as an opportunity to reduce the amount they charge for shipping; consider lowering your rates, to stay competitive
- If you choose to update your rates, learn how to edit your listings in bulk with the bulk editor feature
- If you offer Calculated/Actual Cost rates, these have been automatically updated (effective yesterday)
